Ordering a Rice

If you know what you're looking for, send an e-mail to Chris with your list of specs for a quote. If you're not entirely sure what you want, take a look at our Models page (under the Instruments Section) and check out the standard specs. These represent the most commonly requested features for these style guitars, and you can make any changes from them for your own Rice. If you have any questions, e-mail us and we can work out what's right for you. The more details you can provide, the better we'll be able to create your instrument. Setup preferences, playing style, musical tastes, descriptions of things you've liked in other instruments, abstract poetry, the more information the better. We love to hear from you!

Standard Setup Information

We use pure nickel wrapped strings in your choice of .009-.042, .010-.046, or .011-.049 gauges. Any other strings you provide can be used. Setups typically feature minimal relief and medium-low action, although each instrument has a sweet spot where it comes to life. We spend at least a week tweaking each instrument to play and sound its best.

Customer Provided Parts

We have good working relationships with several of the best hardware, pickup, and wood suppliers that have been built up over the last ten years. If you have something that you would prefer on your instrument that we cannot source, we can use it. Some examples are customer-supplied pickups, bridges, and occasionally necks and bodies for assembly.

Pricing, Payment, and Updates

Pricing is highly dependant upon features and variable from instrument to instrument. The prices listed on the Models pages are starting points, any and all changes that affect the price are discussed up front. Cases and shipping are not included. 50% down payment starts a custom build or holds an In Progress instrument for you. The balance (including case and shipping charges, if applicable) is due when the instrument is complete. Throughout the build, we will keep you informed with a photo record and e-mail updates.

RCG Warranty

Every Rice Custom instrument is guaranteed against defects in workmanship and materials for the life of the instrument to the original owner. User modifications, abuse, and accidental damage beyond normal wear and tear will void this warranty. Please take care of your instrument, and you will enjoy a lifetime of music.
